Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival has locked in an October 8, 2026 release date, opened preorders, and added Nintendo Switch 2 to its launch platforms. The first-person action-horror game is also coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Saber Interactive marked the news with a new red-band trailer and a fuller look at the game’s blend of survival horror, brutal combat, and puzzle-box powers.

HELLRAISER: REVIVAL ADDS A new chapter in Hellraiser canon

Players step into the role of Aidan, who must use the Genesis Configuration to rescue his girlfriend, Sunny, from the Labyrinth. That bargain brings him into conflict with Pinhead, the Cenobites, and a cult devoted to their particular understanding of pain and pleasure.

The game combines conventional weapons with supernatural abilities drawn from the puzzle box. Saber describes it as a story-driven horror experience rather than a simple arena shooter, with the Genesis Configuration central to both combat and survival.

Switch 2 joins the launch lineup

The Switch 2 announcement means the complete platform lineup is now PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Preorders are open through the game’s official site ahead of the October launch.

The red-band footage leans into the franchise’s signature imagery: chains, flesh, ritual, and the cold geometry of the Labyrinth. It also suggests that the game is trying to build an original story inside the Hellraiser mythology instead of simply recreating scenes from the films.

What We Think

This is one of those announcements that immediately jumps to the front of our horror-game calendar. I am a huge Hellraiser fan. I have probably read The Hellbound Heart at least 10 times because it became my go-to book for airline travel, and I have seen Hellraiser and Hellbound: Hellraiser II close to that many times.

Pinhead genuinely terrified me when I was younger. It wasn’t just how he looked, but the idea that you could accidentally open a puzzle box to Hell and, once you did, there was no escaping what you had unleashed absolutely got to me. I was so uncomfortable with that idea that I didn’t even want any kind of Lament Configuration representation in my house.

Apparently I got over it. I now have a Lament Configuration tattoo and I preordered the Leviathan Edition of Hellraiser: Revival as soon as it was announced.

That history is a big part of why this game has me so excited. The developers are leaning into The Hellbound Heart and the first two films, including Leviathan, the Labyrinth and the idea of the Cenobites as something much more complicated than traditional demons. The chance to actually explore that world through a first-person survival-horror game is exactly the kind of Hellraiser adaptation I want.

The real test will be whether the game understands that Hellraiser is more than gore. The best stories in the series are built around temptation, obsession, pain and pleasure, and the terrible cost of getting exactly what you asked for. If Hellraiser: Revival can pair those ideas with satisfying survival horror, combat and puzzle-box mechanics, October 8 cannot get here soon enough.
