The original Halloween trilogy is returning to AMC Theatres for three consecutive nights, beginning September 4 and ending September 6.

The event moves from John Carpenter’s 1978 classic to the direct continuation Halloween II, then closes with the franchise’s famous standalone experiment, Halloween III: Season of the Witch. Each screening is presented by Halloween: The Game ahead of its September 8 launch.

Halloween Trilogy AMC Theatres Schedule

September 4: Halloween (1978) returns Michael Myers to the big screen in Carpenter’s original trip to Haddonfield.

September 5: Halloween II (1981) continues the story on the same night as the first film.

September 6: Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) completes the run with the franchise’s Michael Myers-free anthology entry.

Showtimes and participating locations vary. AMC’s individual event pages provide current theater availability and ticket information.

Why Halloween III Belongs in the Event

Including Season of the Witch makes this more interesting than a standard Michael Myers double feature. The third film abandoned the continuing slasher story and tried to turn Halloween into an anthology franchise built around a different seasonal nightmare each time.

That decision famously confused audiences in 1982, and I understood why when I first saw it as a kid. I kept waiting for Michael Myers to show up and wondering what they were trying to accomplish. Over time, though, Halloween III became one of my favorites in the franchise. Its masks, Silver Shamrock jingle and grim Halloween-night premise give it an identity unlike anything else in the series, and I appreciate that now far more than I did on that first watch. Plus, as everyone who has seen the movie knows, the Silver Shamrock jingle is almost as iconic as the Halloween theme, and arguably even more of an earworm.

How the Screenings Connect to Halloween: The Game

Halloween: The Game launches September 8 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game includes a single-player story and a 1-versus-4 multiplayer mode that lets players either become Michael Myers or work together as residents of Haddonfield.

Scheduling the films immediately before launch turns the AMC run into a franchise event rather than an isolated repertory booking. It also gives fans a chance to revisit the look, sound and rhythm of the original films before entering the game’s version of 1978 Haddonfield.

What We Think

The best decision here is including Halloween III instead of treating the event as two Michael Myers movies and stopping. The first two films make a natural back-to-back story, but Season of the Witch shows how strange and ambitious the franchise might have become if the anthology plan had continued.

Three consecutive nights may be a commitment, but each movie offers a different flavor: stripped-down stalking, a larger hospital-set continuation and full supernatural conspiracy. Tying the run to the game also makes sense without turning the screenings into an advertisement first and a theatrical event second.
