Undertone

Undertone (2026)

Undertone features genuinely impressive sound design and an eerie central concept built around audio-driven horror, but the film never capitalizes on its own setup. Despite immersive Dolby presentation and moments of creeping atmosphere, the movie becomes an exhausting exercise in repetition that mistakes prolonged tension for actual scares.

Why Watch Our Review

We break down why Undertone may have worked better as an audio-only horror experience, how the movie constantly trains viewers to expect scares that never arrive, and why the lack of visual payoff completely drained the tension out of the theater experience. We also dive into the film’s oppressive atmosphere, heavy real-world themes surrounding death and grief, the frustrating final act that still refuses to fully commit, and why this ended up being one of our biggest horror disappointments of the year.
