The Bride!

The Bride! (2026)

The Bride! is an ambitious genre mashup that blends horror, romance, crime drama, musical sequences, social commentary, and Frankenstein mythology into a visually striking but frustratingly unfocused experience. Despite strong performances from Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale, impressive production design, and a clearly passionate creative vision, the film never finds a coherent identity and ultimately becomes more exhausting than engaging.

Why Watch Our Review

We break down why The Bride! may be one of the most confusing movies we’ve covered, how Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale give committed performances that deserve a stronger script, and why the movie constantly feels like it’s throwing new ideas at the screen without developing any of them. We also dive into the bizarre Mary Shelley possession storyline, the Bonnie and Clyde-inspired road trip, the musical dance sequences that come out of nowhere, the feminist uprising subplot that disappears almost as quickly as it arrives, and why the only moments that truly grabbed our attention involved Christian Bale’s surprisingly sympathetic version of Frankenstein’s monster.
