Shudder’S Season of Screams 2026 Runs Four Months

Shudder is turning spooky season into a four-month event. Shudder Season of Screams 2026 begins September 1 and runs through December 31 with weekly film and series premieres, live watch parties, specials, and a new version of its annual Ghoul Log.

The first original premiere is Parasomnia on September 4. From there, the schedule moves through a crowded September and October before continuing its seasonal programming through the end of the year.

The first wave of premieres

September 4: Parasomnia. September 11: Mārama. September 15: the first two episodes of The Creep Tapes Season 3. September 18: Goody Goody. September 25: Bloody Tennis.

October brings Infirmary on October 2, V/H/S/Mixtape on October 9, Hallowarrior on October 16, The Cycle and a new Joe Bob Briggs special on October 23, the FANGORIA Chainsaw Awards on October 25, Big Baby on October 30, and Hunting Matthew Nichols on Halloween.

The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula Season 7 is also due this fall.

A new Ghoul Log and weekly watch parties

The annual ambient fireplace tradition returns October 1 as Curse of the Ghoul Logs. Shudder is also planning Friday-night watch parties at 9 p.m. ET, giving subscribers a recurring communal slot during the heart of the season.

The extended campaign is a smart way to recognize how horror audiences actually watch. September and October may get most of the attention, but November and December have become increasingly important for genre programming as well.

What We Think

With so many channels creating their own horror-themed rows around spooky season, it’s clear there is plenty of demand for horror movies this time of year. We already know Shudder understands that better than most. With its stacked library, Shudder Originals, and new content arriving frequently, the service is set up to be a one-stop shop leading into Halloween.

There is enough here to make Season of Screams feel like a real programming identity instead of another themed row on a homepage. The weekly rhythm is especially useful: it gives horror fans a reason to keep checking in without dropping the entire slate at once.

We’re already combing through the lineup and picking out the titles that stand out, including The Cycle and V/H/S/Mixtape, but the best surprise may come from one of the smaller originals.

An expecting couple and their midwife become trapped during a home birth as increasingly sinister complications begin to unfold.

September 25 — Bloody Tennis

A young player enters an elite European tennis academy where brutal competition hides something even more sinister.

October 1 — Curse of the Ghoul Logs

Shudder’s seasonal jack-o’-lantern tradition returns with a new hour-long Ghoul Log featuring multiple candlelit pumpkins.

October 9 — V/H/S/Mixtape

October 16 — Hallowarrior

October 23 — The Cycle

A woman investigating a horrific crime connected to her estranged father begins uncovering a disturbing secret he took to the grave.

October 23 — Joe Bob’s Halloween House Party

Shudder Original Special

Joe Bob Briggs and Darcy the Mail Girl return for a Halloween double feature packed with tricks, treats and plenty of horror.

The special airs live Friday, October 23 at 9 p.m. ET and becomes available on demand Sunday, October 25.

October 25 — FANGORIA Chainsaw Awards

Shudder Special Premiere

Devon Sawa hosts the annual awards ceremony celebrating the year’s best in horror.

October 30 — Big Baby

Dracmorda and Swanthula Boulet return with another group of extreme drag artists competing in elaborate horror-inspired challenges.
