Apocalypse Z: New World teaser heads to the Canary Islands

Following Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End, the new film expands the story inspired by author Manel Loureiro’s books. After the TSJ virus outbreak, the Canary Islands have become Europe’s last refuge. A special mission heads back to the mainland for vital supplies, with Roberto joining the team under questionable circumstances.

The mission quickly becomes a race against hordes of infected and divided loyalties. Prime Video describes the sequel as a larger, ensemble-driven continuation built around action, adventure and survival, pushing the franchise further into post-apocalyptic horror.

Carles Torrens returns with an expanded cast

Carles Torrens returns to direct after helming the first film. The cast includes Carlos Alcaide, Julia Martínez, Mónica López, Tamara Casellas and Santiago Vaca Narvaja. Jose María Yazpik returns as Pritchenko, while Berta Vázquez reprises her role as Lucía. Pedrito also returns as Lúculo, the cat who survived alongside Manel in the first movie.

New cast members include Axel Medrano, Pedro Hernández, Javier Godino, Ujin Moreno and Mario Mayo. Ángel Agudo wrote the screenplay, with Nostromo Pictures producing and Núria Valls and Adrián Guerra serving as executive producers.

The sequel arrives after festival premieres

Apocalypse Z: New World will first screen at the Sitges Film Festival on October 10 before making its U.S. premiere at Screamfest in Los Angeles on October 13. The film then streams exclusively on Prime Video October 30 in more than 240 countries and territories.

The original became one of Prime Video’s most-watched international Original movies, giving the sequel a sizable audience to return to. For horror fans catching up before the new installment, the first film is already streaming on Prime Video. The new chapter also gives zombie movie fans another major release just before Halloween.
