Samara Weaving and Nicholas Braun Face Killer Wasps in Hivemind
Samara Weaving and Nicholas Braun will star in Hivemind, a killer-wasp thriller from Ciarán Foy that is now filming in Dublin.
Samara Weaving and Nicholas Braun are trading quiet country living for evolved killer wasps in Hivemind, a new environmental creature thriller now filming in Dublin.
Deadline reports that Ciarán Foy is directing the film for Thunder Road and Badlands from a screenplay by Peter Gaffney. Amazon MGM Studios has boarded the project, with international streaming plans through Prime Video.
HIVEMIND is already filming
Hivemind follows the evolution of a new breed of killer wasps and the small-town authorities forced to stop the threat before it becomes a global outbreak. The premise keeps the story grounded in a familiar fear: an ordinary pest becoming organized, aggressive and much harder to kill.
Production is underway in Dublin, which puts the movie beyond the earliest announcement stage. No release date, trailer or official first-look image has been revealed.
Samara Weaving returns to genre territory
Weaving has become one of modern horror’s most reliable leads through Ready or Not, The Babysitter and Scream VI. Braun is best known for Succession, while Foy’s credits include Sinister 2 and the supernatural horror film The Canal.

The producers include Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee and Diarmaid McGrath for Thunder Road; Scott Strauss for Badlands; and Macdara Kelleher and John Keville for Wild Atlantic Pictures.
What We Think
Killer wasps are a beautifully efficient horror pitch, especially for those of us living in Texas who fight their infestations one nest at a time. It feels like every other time my family mows, one of us gets stung, so the fear is very real. No mythology lecture required: everyone already understands why a cloud of stingers moving with purpose is bad news.
Samara Weaving gives Hivemind immediate genre credibility, and Foy has experience turning confined spaces and unseen threats into pressure cookers. The big question now is tone: is this a straight environmental nightmare, full-on creature-feature pulp, or some sharp combination of the two? I personally can’t wait for the first footage to arrive.
