The Resident Evil box office run has reached another milestone. Zach Cregger’s 2026 reboot has earned $320.2 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film in the franchise, according to Constantin Film.

Resident Evil box office tops $300 million

Constantin Film announced October 12 that the film crossed $300 million in its fourth weekend in theaters. The studio reports $187.1 million from international markets outside the United States, including a $40.6 million opening weekend in China and a $3.6 million debut in Japan.

The worldwide total overtakes the previous franchise entries, including the Milla Jovovich series. This follows the film’s earlier $200 million milestone.

A different approach to Resident Evil

Cregger, director of Barbarian and Weapons, follows Bryan, a courier played by Austin Abrams, whose biomedical delivery turns into a nightmare. The film takes a different approach from adaptations built around familiar game protagonists.

We’ve followed the reboot from its Fantastic Fest preview through its theatrical release. Its heavy body horror and unusual approach to the property have been part of the conversation since that early screening.
