Resident Evil Fantastic Fest Premiere: Now in Theaters

Resident Evil officially kicked off its theatrical run at Fantastic Fest on Thursday night, bringing Zach Cregger’s new take on the franchise to the festival’s opening night in Austin before opening in theaters nationwide today, Friday, September 18.
The Fantastic Fest premiere took place at Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar, and Sony Pictures has released a new collection of images from the opening-night screening. The timing makes this more than a festival stop: audiences can now see Resident Evil for themselves in theaters.
Resident Evil arrives in theaters after its Fantastic Fest premiere
Cregger, whose recent horror work includes Barbarian and Weapons, directs the new survival-horror film from a screenplay by Cregger and Shay Hatten. Rather than retelling one of the games directly, the movie follows Bryan, played by Austin Abrams, a medical courier who gets pulled into a rapidly escalating fight for survival over the course of one horrifying night.
The cast also includes Zach Cherry, Kali Reis and Paul Walter Hauser. TriStar Pictures, Constantin Film and Davis Films bring the latest Resident Evil movie to theaters today, September 18. The film is rated R for strong bloody violence, gore and language throughout.
