A Mayfair Watchers Society movie is in development at Cineverse, with creature creator Trevor Henderson helping bring his horror podcast to the screen. Rather than telling one long story, the adaptation is planned as a found-footage-style anthology built around several of the show’s monsters and encounters.

The Mayfair Watchers Society movie will feature multiple creatures

According to the announcement, the film will draw on characters and stories from the podcast, including The Needle, Creekman, Owls with Teeth, Mr. Bag, Anxious Dogs, Scissors and The Clatter. That makes the anthology approach a natural fit. Each creature can get its own unsettling encounter instead of being squeezed into one conventional plot.

Mayfair Watchers Society launched in 2022 as a Bloody FM production, created by Henderson and Pacific Obadiah. The series uses the idea of recovered recordings and accounts from residents who have encountered strange beings. Cineverse says the podcast has passed three million downloads, so this isn’t a property being built from scratch for movie audiences.

Trevor Henderson is involved in the adaptation

Henderson will produce and join the writing team, with Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting developing the project. No director or cast has been announced, and there is no release date yet. The filmmakers are still putting the creative team together.

The found-footage format makes sense for a world built on reported sightings and audio recordings. It also leaves plenty of room for different visual styles, depending on which creature a segment follows. The challenge will be making the creatures as unsettling in motion as they are in Henderson’s artwork, without losing what makes the podcast work.
