Spirit Tasting sets a holiday roadshow with Chris LaMartina
Chris LaMartina’s Spirit Tasting is taking its New Year’s Eve horror-comedy premise on the road. Terror Vision Original Productions has announced a holiday screening tour, with LaMartina and select cast members scheduled to appear at each stop. A Blu-ray edition with bonus features, including a feature-length making-of documentary, is timed to coincide with the tour.
What is Spirit tasting?
The film follows three former punks who gather at a distillery on New Year’s Eve to toast their late bandmate. A sommelier, played by Matt Lake, invites them to a premium tasting where every bottle comes with a wish. Those wishes soon take a dangerous turn.
LaMartina directed and edited the film and co-wrote it with Michael Varrati. The cast also includes Sean Doherty, Melissa LaMartina, Trevor Wilhelms, Matt Baughman, Cate Paris and Tatiana Nya Ford. The announcement lists cameos from Grady Hendrix, Clay McLeod Chapman, Peaches Christ and Henry Zebrowski.
The announcement says the film was shot in four days for $40,000 as a project for LaMartina’s 40th birthday. He cited Roger Corman’s quick-turnaround productions as an influence. For another horror comedy built around New Year’s Eve, read our New Fears Eve review.
